Obviously you probably knew that. My feeling has always been that I probably quite liked him, but I can't say I've actually seen that much of his stuff - strangely doesn't seem to turn up on TV so often. So I thought I might investigate to see whether his comedy actually was racist or just didn't fall into line with the way the politically correct brigade want us all to think/speak. Was he funny? For the entire span of his life? Never? Was his comedy overshadowed in later years? The guy was an asshole. I don't mind controversy, hell, I have the darkest, most sardonic and mordant sense of humour ever but he was simply a racist.
