Calmira II is an add-on to Windows 3.1 to make it look like Windows 95 and replace the (pretty) naff file manager that come with Windows 3.1.

well at the time, didn't everybody use ms-dos? so the natural thing to do was to use ms-windows? maybe the had a strangle hold on ms-dos (the OS) way back then and it just continued on for ever (like till now... and it still continues)...
