Apple Mac Pro Quad Core Announced

Did you notice? Apple announced the new Quad Core MacPro - it feature 2x Dual Core Xeon CPUs with 4MB Cache per CPU (8mb total), with speeds up to 3GHz. The CPUs feature SSE3 which is pretty good. (Like MMX but on steroids with actual benefits rather than pretend benefits)

my main evidence is that the older version of seti used to perform MUCH MUCH better when you used an SSE, SSE2, or SSE3 optimised version of the coding client, rather than relying on the x86 FPU type instructions. Seti have releases a new version now so optimised versions don't seem to exist anymore at the moment.

MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 aren't Intel specific with AMD's latest CPUs featuring support for these. SSE and newer is a more advanced development of MMX (Link).
